Vickery Electric

Marine Services

Vickery Electric was first introduced to the Marine Electrical industry in 1955. Having heard of Vickery Electric's many accomplishments, one of the most well respected ship building firms in Canada called John R. Vickery to assess an emergency situation. That situation developed into a trusted relationship that has lasted 50 years.

Originally, Vickery was involved in the building of tugs and barges. They wired the new facilities in Whitby as well as dry docks, maintained the welding and mechanical shops, then progressed to Coast Guard installations, maintenance and inspections. Vickery Electric helped in the design and installation of the new facility in Belleville, and were often requested on major job sites to maintain equipment.

In 1979, John T.G. Vickery expanded the customer base and refitted tug boats to travel around North America. He then followed up with the design and installation of electrical systems on new vessels, most notably, the Maid of the Mist VII. A major article was written about Vickery Electric and the installation of the electrical systems on the Maid of the Mist VII in the Electrical Business News Magazine (Vol. XXXV, No. 5, May 1999). John T. G. Vickery has also designed and installed prototype vessels valued up to $1,500,000.00, and technical touring vessels valued up to $1,000,000.00.

Joseph Vickery, the company's Project Manager, has designed and Diesel Duckinstalled systems for solar and wind generated vessels touring the world today. Joseph also sits on the Marine Advisory Council for the Canadian Coast Guard, and Transport Canada's Ontario Region.

Vickery Electric has prided itself in having a marine background and assisted in advising, designing and installing quality marine work. John R. Vickery once said: "We want the tough ones". Well, all he had to do was go to the marine industry.
